The Pain that Never Fades

What is the pain that never fades? It's quite a mystery,

yet some say it's been going on throughout history.

It's sad to see some people getting beaten every day,

yet they keep quiet about it in their own little way.

Some wives scream and shout at their spouse,

yet their husbands stay quiet as a mouse.

Some husbands beat up their wives,

some women can't take the pain anymore

   and stab their husbands with knives.

Other people take the pain so quiet and meek,

though they may not be able to stand up for a week.

Some women who've been raped say they're fine

  but the pain's still there.

Although no one has beaten them, the pain

  is still too much to bear.

Every time they look at a car seat

reminds them of when they got raped and beat.

Every time they look at what the mirror reflects

the scars and burns remind them of their pain and neglect.
